Which machines does this DuraClutch fit?
It fits most 2006-2023 Polaris Sportsman 450, 1996-2014 Sportsman 500, and 2014-2023 Sportsman 570 models. The full model-year list is in the product description.
What does it NOT fit?
It does not work on 2021-2023 Sportsman 570 models with the P190X clutch, on 2016-2017 models with TEAM Boss secondaries, or with transmission numbers 1333474, 1333475, 1333572, 1333728 (use kit 15-544 instead), 1334635, 1334636, or 1334537. Check your transmission number before ordering.
What is the DuraClutch kit number?
DuraClutch kit 15-539.
What's included in the kit?
A DuraClutch primary clutch, a TEAM tied secondary clutch, a drive belt, belt removal tool, shims, blue Loctite, decals, and installation instructions.
How is a DuraClutch different from the stock clutch?
The R-Series pairs a DuraClutch primary with a TEAM tied secondary. Engagement is smoother than a stock flyweight clutch, engine braking is stronger and more predictable on hills, and the belt stays under tension so it doesn't burn on takeoff. It's a direct bolt-on with no tuning needed.
Does it need tuning or a clutch kit?
No. The kit comes calibrated for the machine it's listed for. Bolt it on and ride. If you run oversize tires or ride at high elevation, contact Hunterworks before ordering so Todd can tell you whether a different calibration is a better fit.
Do I need a primary clutch puller?
You need a primary clutch puller to get the stock primary off the crankshaft. If you don't already own one, choose the 'Add Primary Puller' option and it ships with the kit (often separately, and it usually arrives first).
What belt does it use?
The kit includes its own DuraClutch belt. DuraClutch systems do not use the stock Polaris belt or a standard Hunterworks belt, so keep a spare DuraClutch belt on hand. Spares are available as an add-on option or as a separate product.
Where do I find my transmission number?
It's stamped on a tag on the transmission case. The product description has instructions and a photo showing where to look. The transmission number is the only reliable way to confirm this kit fits your Sportsman.
How do I install it?
It's a direct bolt-on. Remove the clutch cover, pull the stock primary and secondary, install the DuraClutch primary and secondary with the supplied hardware and Loctite, fit the belt, and reinstall the cover. Hunterworks has a DuraClutch install and road-test video linked on this page.
Is there a warranty?
DuraClutch systems carry the manufacturer's warranty; see the Warranty Info link on this page. The DuraClutch belt itself is not warrantied.
