RZR Turbo Belt Edge Fraying After a Clutch Job? Check Shaft Spacing With an Alignment Tool

You swapped in a new belt, and a few rides later one edge is already frayed. Before you buy another belt, check where the two clutches sit relative to each other. The Hunterworks Alignment Tool for the Polaris RZR Turbo and Pro is made for exactly that check.

Why alignment decides belt life

A CVT belt runs between two clutches that have to be the correct distance apart and sit square to each other. If the spacing or offset is off, the belt rides crooked, rubs one sidewall and wears unevenly. No belt brand fixes that. It is a shaft spacing problem, and it often shows up after engine or clutch work, or after a clutch cover or mount has been disturbed.

What the tool does

The tool sits on the crankshaft and the transmission shaft of the CVT clutch and corrects shaft spacing and alignment issues. Hunterworks designed it for a precision measurement, so you are reading a real number instead of eyeballing a belt. It is made in the USA.

Fitment: read this before ordering

  • 2021-2026 Polaris RZR Turbos, all models
  • 2020 Polaris RZR Pro only
  • It does not fit the 2020 RZR Turbo, only the 2020 Pro

That 2020 split trips people up, so confirm your model and year first.

Watch before you wrench

Hunterworks has two videos for this tool. The Explanation video is marked a must-watch, and the How To Use video walks through the measurement.

After you fix the spacing

Once the clutches are square, put a good belt in. The Hunterworks CVT Drive Belt for 2016-2026 Polaris RZR Turbo, RZR Pro, RZR Turbo R and RZR Turbo S is the matching belt for these machines. Browse parts for the machine in the RZR Turbo / Pro collection.

Bottom line

If belts keep dying on one edge, measure first. The Hunterworks Alignment Tool costs $74 and tells you whether spacing is the cause before you spend on another belt.
