Hunterworks CVT drive belt for Polaris Ranger XP 1000 2018-2026

Best Drive Belt for Polaris Ranger XP 1000 (2018-2026): Hunterworks vs OEM vs Aftermarket

The best drive belt for a 2018-2026 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 (3 seat) or a 2019-2026 Ranger XP 1000 Crew is the Hunterworks Ranger XP 1000 belt, part number HW-925RM, priced at $169 ($173 with the optional $4 belt change tool). It is made in the USA and was built specifically for the Ranger rather than copied from another machine's belt. It does not fit the 2018 Ranger XP 1000 Crew (that one has its own listing) or the Ranger 1000 SOHC / Non-XP. The OEM part number it replaces is not listed in our product data, so check your old belt or Polaris parts book before ordering. The biggest reason owners pick it: the Hunterworks belt is, in Todd's words, the first true Ranger belt, where every other Ranger belt used or mimicked a 2016 RZR Turbo belt.

Which belt fits my Ranger XP 1000?

Fitment comes straight from the product listing. Check your year and body style before you order, because Polaris changed things around in 2018.

Make Model Years Replaces OEM #
Polaris Ranger XP 1000 (3 seat) 2018-2026 Not listed
Polaris Ranger XP 1000 Crew 2019-2026 Not listed

The Hunterworks part number for all of these is HW-925RM. Does not fit: 2018 Crew, or the Ranger 1000 SOHC (Non-XP). If you are not sure which one you own, look at the clutch cover and the model plate, or ask us before you buy.

How does the Hunterworks belt compare to OEM and aftermarket belts?

Here is the side-by-side. Where we cannot confirm a fact from the other brand's own page, the table says so rather than guessing.

What is different about the Hunterworks Ranger XP 1000 belt?

Todd designs every Hunterworks product, and this belt came out of a simple problem. For years, every Ranger belt on the market, factory or aftermarket, either was a 2016 RZR Turbo belt or copied one. The Ranger is a different machine with a different job, so a belt shaped for a sport car is not a perfect match. Todd built this one for the Ranger and set out to make it work better than the old version.

The construction is proprietary, and it is made in the USA. The product description calls it engineered for toughness and strength, with higher strength than OEM. We are not going to put a number on that, because the number is not something we publish.

What does that change on the machine? Hunterworks belts are built for better grip, less jerky starts and less secondary squeal. On a Ranger that spends its life hauling a loaded bed, pulling a trailer or crawling through a food plot, a belt that grabs cleanly and does not slip is the point. If you want to get the most out of any new belt, follow the break-in below.

Break-in is simple: keep it at half throttle or less for the first 30 miles and let it go through a couple of heat and cool cycles so it seats in the clutch faces. It fully limbers up over the first 100 to 200 miles, then ride it normally.

What do Ranger owners say about the Hunterworks belt?

The belt carries a 4.84 average rating across 25 reviews. Here are three from verified buyers.

  • "Excellent belt. Arrived very quickly and as advertised. I used a Hunterworks video to help me install it. Will definitely buy again." (Brian T.)
  • "Hunter works is the best in the business. Superfast shipping and always the right part. I've never broke a hunterworks belt." (James G.)
  • "I've only got about 15 miles on it so far but its doing well this far!" (Kade G.)

How do I change the belt on a Ranger XP 1000?

  1. Park on level ground, let the machine cool, and remove the clutch cover.
  2. Open the secondary clutch sheaves. A belt change tool makes this much easier, and the optional $4 version is available with the belt.
  3. Walk the old belt off the clutches and check both clutch faces for glazing or damage.
  4. Install the new belt with the part number facing out.
  5. Reinstall the clutch cover, then run the break-in described above.
