New Rollers, Same Chatter and Lazy Backshift
You did the smart thing first. Your Polaris RZR XP 1000 or RZR 1000S was chattering the belt on decel and feeling lazy coming back down through the gears, so you dropped in a fresh set of secondary rollers. It helped for a ride or two, then the same symptoms crept right back. That's a classic sign that the wear has moved past the rollers and into the secondary clutch itself.
Why Rollers Alone Don't Always Fix It
The rollers are only part of the backshift story. They ride against the helix ramps, and both the ramps and the sheave faces wear over hundreds of hours and thousands of belt heat cycles. Once the helix is grooved or the movable sheave has play on its bushing, new rollers land on worn surfaces and can't restore the original clamping action. The clutch no longer squeezes and releases the belt cleanly, so you get chatter, poor throttle response, and a backshift that feels a step behind the terrain.
Signs the Whole Secondary Is Done
Look past the belt and rollers. Side-to-side wobble in the movable sheave, notchy or gritty movement when you work the sheave by hand, visible grooving or discoloration on the helix ramps, and uneven or glazed sheave faces all point to a secondary that's worn beyond a simple parts swap. If you've already cleaned the clutch, checked belt deflection, and installed fresh rollers and the chatter and lazy backshift are still there, the assembly has reached the end of its service life.

Fitment
This complete secondary fits 2017-2023 Polaris RZR XP 1000 (2 and 4 seat) and 2016-2024 Polaris RZR 1000S. Note that it does not fit the 2024 RZR XP 1000, which uses a different clutch. Always confirm your model year before ordering so you get the right unit the first time.
Keep the New Secondary Healthy
Once it's installed, protect your investment. Blow the clutches out with compressed air after dusty or muddy rides, inspect the belt for glazing and fraying, and keep an eye on belt deflection. A clean secondary that can move freely is what gives you smooth engagement, strong backshift, and long belt life on your Polaris.
